CURSE YOU MYCROFT )

Sep. 26th, 2011

Warded to the Auror Office, sans trainees
Auror Josephine Proudfoot was brought to St Mungo's in serious condition, but she is now under my care and in no immediate danger of death. She is still being closely monitored in case complications arise, as she's suffered a good deal of internal organ damage, much of which can't be repaired. None of them were vital, fortunately. Specifically: she has lost a kidney, her spleen, and part of her stomach due to irreparable damage from Internal Incineration.

Warded to Sherlock Savage
I know Evan Rosier was in your year. The other one as well? How are you What is your opinion on this?

Warded to Mary MacDonald
How are you and Sherlock?

If you need more groceries, let me know.

005. speak, friend, and enter

[Entry Warded to Sherlock Savage]
Hello, Sherlock. I would like to share something with you, both because you are my brother and because you are directly affected by this turn of events. However, this is a matter of utmost secrecy, possibly involving all of wizarding Britain. In order to read further, I request your signature below as assurance that you will not speak of anything I say here and in further comments to anyone* unless such knowledge becomes either public or known to you in some other capacity.

Upon signing, the rest of the entry unfolds beneath the heading. )

*I've written in exceptions for your superior officers in the DMLE, but please only use those if you think them absolutely necessary. I have not and will not write an exception for Mary.

004. are you my mommy?

I realise that some may feel that my opinion is not welcome in the public sphere, and for that I apologise. However, I promise that I only have the best intentions of children in mine when I ask: Isn't there some sort of happy medium between snatching children away from their parents and allowing them to come into the wizarding world completely ignorant?

Imagine how traumatic it must be to be taken from one's family at such a tender age. Perhaps the cost of losing one's childhood family and home might outweigh the potential benefits of an early magical indoctrination. What a child truly needs to thrive is a loving, caring, understanding environment, and certainly Muggles are capable of providing such. Wanting the best for their children, like any reasonable parents, I believe that muggles might consent to allowing their children exposure. Surely, we could find wizards to pose as long-lost aunts and uncles, old family friends, perhaps even babysitters.

As we teach the children about our culture, we could teach their parents as well, within the limits of the Statute of Secrecy. Having magical children, they will have to be aware of wizards' existence, after all. Perhaps it is because we never took steps to remedy the ignorance of muggles that some have grown so fearful of magic.

003. and so you're back from outer space

I'm sorry.

That's all there really is to say. I'm sorry for the deaths of Vultus and Domina Gamp, and I wish their families nothing but comfort in their times of sorrow. I'm sorry that I couldn't do more to prevent their deaths or to bring their killer to justice. There is no one that would like to see the murderer caught more than I, and it was with a great deal of regret that I had to admit that I didn't remember anything at all, let alone anything useful.

Please let me know if there is anything that I can do now.

002. well there's nothing you can't ask

Having worked in the Spell Damage Ward of St Mungo's for quite a while now, I've seen many accidents that I believe could be prevented with a little bit of knowledge about things like their bodies and the effects that certain spells can have on them. For the same reasons, however, I know that many people can be embarrassed to ask for help or advice. As such, I offer myself up to take whatever questions people may have regarding medical and anatomical issues.

I am by no means the final authority on medical matters, or perhaps even the best, but seeing as there are precious few other resources, I thought I would make myself available. Some knowledge is better than none.

All replies to this journal entry save my own have been charmed to be anonymous in order to protect askers both from embarrassment and fears of judgement (I would never judge, although for most anonymity is far more trustworthy than any man's word, and I can't speak for anyone else). Please refrain from abusing this system. If the cloak of anonymity is not enough, please do not hesitate to ward to me.

If you have suffered grievous bodily harm, please do not write to me in lieu of putting down your journal and coming to St Mungo's.

In short, you may safely ask me whatever you like here, and I promise to do my best in answering.

001. get by with a little help from my friends

[WARDED TO GRYFFINDOR, RAVENCLAW, AND HUFFLEPUFF 1978]
Hello there. This is Healer Savage (yes, that would be Sherlock Savage's brother). I am currently taking care of a young lady in your year named Mary MacDonald who was attacked recently. She has just woken up, and she has asked me to relay this message to her friends:

First, she is going to live. Although she has been on the receiving end of some Dark magic, she is making very good progress, and there should be no lasting physical damage. Second, she would like somebody to bring her journal and her wand, although this is going to have to wait until tomorrow because, third, she doesn't want any visitors at all until after she's had a full night's rest. Finally, she would like everybody to get along on her behalf.

That is all. If anyone has any questions, I can serve as a go-between until she's ready to write and/or take visitors.
